Aortic Valve Replacement

  • "Aortic valve repair" and "Aortic valve replacement" Can be called anything : An aortic valve replacement involves removing a faulty or damaged valve and replacing it with a new valve made from synthetic materials or animal tissue. The aortic valve replacement needs to replace when the opening of the valve becomes narrow and it obstructs the blood flow. the second reason for replacement is when the valve allows blood to flow back through into the heart.

About Aortic Valve Replacement

There are Types :

  1. Annuloplasty : An annuloplasty is a procedure to tighten or reinforce the ring (annulus) around a valve in the heart. It may be done during other procedures to repair a heart valve.

  2. Valvuloplasty : A valvuloplasty, also known as balloon valvuloplasty or balloon valvotomy, is a procedure to repair a heart valve that has a narrowed opening.

Why it's done Aortic Valve Replacement :

Aortic valve disease treatment depends on the severity of your condition, whether or not you're experiencing signs and symptoms, and if your condition is getting worse.

Types of aortic valve disease Treatment:

1. Aortic valve regurgitation : occurs when blood flows backward through the aortic valve into the left ventricle each time the ventricle relaxes rather than in the normal, one-way direction from the ventricle to the aorta. 2. Aortic valve stenosis : causes the aortic valve to become narrowed or obstructed, which makes it harder for the heart pump blood into the aorta. 3. Congenital heart disease: may contribute to aortic valve regurgitation or stenosis as well as result in other problems that prevent the aortic valve from working properly.
